Camp Folks Closes Its Doors
After a year of getting Tallahassee outdoors, Camp Folks will be closing its doors at the end of November.
Camp Folks opened in November 2015 with a mission to get more people outdoors in Florida’s Big Bend. Over the past year, we’ve been able to help over 500 people in Tallahassee get outside and explore our region’s natural beauty. Through workshops, excursions, and rental gear, Camp Folks has encouraged and enabled folks to take on outdoor adventure. Through our social media profiles and newsletter communication, we’ve been able to reach over 5,000 people and have helped keep our environment top-of-mind while entertaining and inspiring the public. By making outdoor adventure affordable and accessible, Camp Folks has been able to offer a new outlook for Tallahassee’s outdoor and eco-tourism industries.
While we’ve been successful in our mission to get more people outdoors, it has not been without sacrifice. We have decided to close Camp Folks to refocus our energy on getting healthy, rebuilding our relationship, and planning our next big adventure.
Deciding to close Camp Folks has not been an easy decision. We have made countless new friends, established wonderful business relationships, and have grown more knowledgable on entrepreneurship and our local environment. For all of this, we are tremendously grateful. We have been humbled by the opportunity to own a business in our hometown and could not have accomplished such success without the help of our customers, friends, family, neighbors, interns, employees, government agencies, non-profits, news media, and the business community. Thank you all for helping us grow.
