The Forgotten Coast: Return to Wild Florida
The Tallahassee Premier of The Forgotten Coast: Return to Wild Florida was held last Thursday, January 28th at the Challenger Center IMAX. Environmental activists, outdoor enthusiasts, fellow adventurers, and intrigued folks from all over the region came out to support the Florida Conservation Voters Education Fund and to see the documentary created by the Florida Wildlife Corridor expedition team. The Florida Wildlife Corridor’s goal in creating the film was to showcase some of the lesser known areas of North Florida, otherwise known as The Forgotten Coast. The team set out on an ambitious adventure that took them one thousand miles across the Panhandle of Florida, by land and water.
Following the footstep of a wandering black bear, the team left the comforts of civilization in hopes of highlighting Florida’s remaining special places, specifically the Florida Wildlife Corridor. Wildlife corridors are portions of land and water that offer passage for animals to safely travel through to access areas and habitats critical for their survival. Films, such as The Forgotten Coast: Return to Wild Florida, sheds light on the importance of protecting this fragile and ecologically important lands.
